Housemate Evaluation Report
dyddiad cyhoeddi: 20/09/2011
The argument for including leaving home education on the school curriculum is strengthening. Therefore, it was imperative that the leaving home education resource Housemate was critically evaluated with current users in order to gauge how it is currently utilised, how it is perceived and how it could be improved.
Between September 2010 and January 2011 the Shelter Cymru Research Team evaluated Housemate. It was found that Housemate is a flexible resource that can be tailored to meet the needs of the user and the group of young people they are working with. Housemate is primarily used in PSE lessons and during activity days in schools where the pack is used as a standalone resource to educate pupils on independent living, housing and homelessness issues. Whereas organisations tailor sections of the resource for their use with young people, including vulnerable young people, in order to educate them on matters of independent living.
